Today’s QQ: A Safe Place to Learn?
Before I explain about today’s Querying Question, let me give you a bit of background. This past summer, my husband Lindsey and I joined a small group of Dallas Theological Seminary graduates, current students, and DTS professor Dr. Sandra Glahn and her husband, Gary, on a one-week Mediterranean cruise. We took excursions to biblical sights in Athens, Patmos, Israel, and Kusadasi, Turkey, the site of ancient Ephesus.
Sarah Griffith, a student in the DTS Masters of Theology program, was one of the women in our group. I was introduced to Sarah at a spiritual formation training. During the cruise, she and I had a number of engaging conversations about her studies, and on the topic of women in the church. Shortly after our trip, Sarah reached out and asked to interview me for a writing project. DTS Alumni Magazine published her article which profiles yours truly. In the article, Sarah answers the question, “A Safe Place to Learn?”

As a side note, each of us on the cruise received an advance copy of Dr. Glahn’s newest book, Nobody’s Mother: Artemis of the Ephesians in Antiquity and the New Testament. Published in the fall of 2023, Glahn’s book examines the significance of the historical Artemis for interpreting the Paul’s instructions to Timothy in his letter, 1 Timothy. I highly recommend Glahn’s book to you! Read my review of Nobody’s Mother here.

Key Takeaways: I hope some of the key takeaways you gleaned from reading Sarah’s article are:
* In God’s eyes, women are not accessories to men.
* Don’t borrow borrow your theology of women.
* Engage in a study of Scripture and church history in order to develop your own theology of women.
* A safe place exists to learn about women and the church.
Thanks for reading Sarah’s article. She is an excellent writer! And, I’m so honored that she chose to write about my work in Theology of Women Academy. And, as always, I value your feedback.
Until next time,
